I picked this up recently I've wore them daily for a week now, both in casual situations and out in the woods on both flat and steep terrain. They have excellent grip in mud loose dirt and wet dirt they dig in that was one of the reasons i took a stab at them. When i ordered was not a single review so i took a chance, as i say many before my review did.Long term durability this what most important right? For that i cannot say yet. I've looked over it's construction it seems to have all right details but even looks can deceive so time will tell right? When the time comes I will update my review on regards based on durability say maybe 6 months from now. They are made in china that shouldn't be surprising to anyone at this point in time lol. Only durability issues i was seeing or having seems few bits of the sowing wanted to fray my advice take a bic lighter (just an example what i meant any lighter be fine) melt them before they get out of hand and undo in the future. It could be a future problem I will keep my eyes on it.Walking in them is very comfy I felt like I was walking on clouds which makes since as they have an EVA insole, which isn't glued in. Meaning long as the boot holds up you can buy replacement EVA insoles for them from other manufacturers. The pair I got even came with a packet that had 2 extra laces so even get back ups if you ever need them. The waterproofing I have not tested, I would say it would be fine as the tongue is a complete wrap with no opening but over an ankle deep of water and they going to flood makes sense I'm sure?I got the black/gray pair they are a little warm on the feet, but i expected that most black clothing is little warmer than light colors. The boot is incredible light, as light as a pair of RND1 basket ball sneakers i have, from the looks of them you wouldn't think that, but they really are may even be slightly lighter than them. The boots are both easy to put on and take off really easy i was really happy with that. For poison oak/ivy reasons lol.I recommend relacing these after you get them if you like a foot hugging snug feel and tightness. Out of the box lacing little loser than I preferred, but not a flaw that is a personal preference. After my relacing of the boot the snug feeling worked great stayed snug all day long laces never stretched or let up on it.These are not wides i know some men even women wear wide boots and shoes there is no option at the time i bought for a wide foot so keep that in mind before you buy these just made for an avg sized foot in width. my foot at widest point is about 4 inches wide any wider i'd not got my foot in them comfortably. Now this be a rule of thumb my dad taught me on buying shoes, these are pretty much shoes with a hiking boot tread.if you wear a size 10 go with a 10 1/2. i wear 10.5 or wore a 10.5 in my past before he told me this rule of thumb. Now i wear a 11 by following his guidance and it was some great advice from a wise man. The advice makes things feel much better and more comfortable in the short & long terms. This is just general advice when buying any shoe be it online or in a store in person.(Edit Review Update August 21st 2019)After about 15 days part of the sole on inner side left rear heel started coming lose for no reason, but i took bottle of guerilla glue and I've had no issues since. I filled that hole full with it its been glued since. Still wearing them daily that has been the only serious issue i had with these. So take note, buy a bottle guerilla glue when you buy these lol. I've wore them daily since i bought them thats been the only serious problem. Made in china though and it shows least it did for me so i'm dropping a star i think thats fair no one should have to glue their shoe back together after 15 days of daily use. I'd go back to 3 but that would be unfair as i'm still wearing them daily. NORTIV 8 should partner with guerilla glue as they work well together.(Edit 10/17/2022)Believe it or not but I still wear these. Total wear time about 1 1/2 years. i think I could get 2 years worth of wear time out of them but i think that's about all I could get comfortably. I don't wear them 1/2 of the year so technically i wear them about 1/2 of a year spring & summer. So to clarify the total wear time, I got about 1 1/2 years worth of time wearing them, yet I've owned them little over 3 years.Whats going on with them in 2022? Insoles are 100% dead rest of construction is still holding up. I never had any issues out of them since the super glue incident. Laces are still good but I can see overall fabric and structure fatigue setting in this is why i say last update. I will be retiring them in about 2 days.I wore these mainly for walking and daily activities, i worked very little in them. I did some firewood collecting work in them but nothing that could damage them type of work. Once the insoles die they no longer felt as if I was walking on clouds, no it felt like walking on concrete lol. That's to be expected though. With all said I got my money out of them I gave $35, they was a new release so i caught them early in. Not many $35 boots/shoes would last me this long or anyone else I'm sure.Anyways, Take care I hope my long and over time review and updates helped everyone. See ya on some other boots/shoes maybe.I have fairly chronic pain from arthritis in my feet. I normally wear Red Wings for work but after a few hours my feet are aching. My wife and I are going on a small hiking trip with friends so I thought I should try some hiking shoes. When they came I figured I would wear them a bit to break them in and boy was I surprised! I can wear these shoes all day without pain! They are not perfect and probably will not last long for work, but for the money Ill just keep ordering more. I already ordered a second pair.I purchased these boots for a scheduled trip hiking. Spent 3 days in Yellowstone National Park and 3 days in the Grand Tetons. I haven’t calculated the total miles we hiked, but these boots were the best purchase I made for the trip. One day alone I hiked 8 miles in these. They were comfortable, no blisters, and they held up well. Anyone who has hiked these parks know about the rugged rocky terrain. Again, nothing but positive comments about these boots. These boots are Light, comfy, stylish, have great tread, seem to be good quality for the price. ?Glad I bought two different colored pairs when on sale !I haven't pushed them too hard yet, waterproof as expected.Top boot there are way more expensive boots out there that aren’t half as goodI rate these boots as good if not better than keen bootsI bought these $55 boots two years ago as a backup pair to my 'real' boots, the pair that cost me $245 from an outdoor specialty store. These were going to be the backup pair after my primary boots became wet or otherwise unwearable. For two years I left them on the rack, and continued to shop for another pair of 'real' boots to replace these $55 boots.About a month ago, with our first big snowfall and me out in the country, I realized I did not pack my 'real' boots and took only the $55 backup pair.To my surprise these boots performed extraordinarily well in every condition. They were sturdy enough for a five hour hike on snow covered trails, robust enough to pass over parts of the trail with large rocks, where a cheap pair of boots will transmit those rock surfaces to the bottoms of your feet, water resistant enough to pass through ankle deep depressions filled with water, and all around had enough grip to manage all parts of the trail. Then, upon arriving home, I managed to spend 2+ hours hand shoveling my car out from 9 inches of new, wet snow, and my feet stayed warm and dry. Honestly, I also have a pair of $200 work boots I usually wear to shovel the snow but my feet always get cold. These kept my feet warmer than any boot I've had in the last ten years.I have no idea how they will last -- I'm an outdoors type of person, so I use my boots for a lot more than shoveling snow and pulling the kids on the sled -- but if I get one more season out of them it will be a fantastic deal for $55.But I think they will last a lot longer. After five days on trails and the winter in the city, they still look brand new. I can't even tell the sole is worn at all, and we had to have put over a hundred miles in on the trails. Plus another 20 hours shoveling and walking in the city. They still look like I just took them out of the box.My only change would be to add a little more cushion on the inside. And for that I added a pair of half length inserts, and now the boots are perfect. I have foot issues so this may not even be necessary for anyone else.Size-wise I wear a 14 in running shoes and the 14 in this boot fits perfectly.Overall I'm shocked at the value and very impressed with the boot. These reasonably priced, quick lace hiking boots are comfortable, easy to clean, fit to size and are not too hot in the Texas 105°+ heat of the summer.Have only worn them for about a month @ work so I cannot comment on their durability; but so far they show no signs of wear… I would buy a second pair if color selection was available.I’m a postman, they are used daily and have clocked up about 500 miles in them so far. I don’t expect them to last more than 3/4 months as a result. Initially very good for the money, although they did tend to end up very sweaty. However, of late feet have been getting wet and found that the soles are leaking through very small holes that are starting in sole. . Still plenty of tread of them and comfortable to wear still despite the high mileage in a couple of months of use, Shame about the leaks in sole but otherwise for £33 , a third of the price of Merrells which last me about 3/4 months also, pretty good valueThese are solid hiking boots priced in the mid to lower range. As a city dweller I am an occasional hiker so I would preface my review with that I do not intend to use these every day.Pros:-Good amount of ankle support. This is important to reduce fatigue. I hiked for over 10 hours on one occasion and felt pretty good in these throughout.-Padding (and good socks!) helped prevent blisters .-Good for wide feet.-True to size.-Seemed waterproof when I traversed small streams but of course was not wadding in rivers!-Have a nice look to them. Some boots in this range are very colourful. I was looking for something a bit more classic.Cons:Not many so far after a month of use. I was generally impressed with them. The only thing is that I wonder how well these would last if I planned to use them everyday for long hikes. If that was the case I might look for something in an even higher price range.Had them 4 weeks and done about 35 miles of walking (1 walk per week) on the second walk the boots started letting water in, but from where I cannot tell! With all the wet weather lately, I have been wearing gaiters with the boots so it wasn't getting over the top.Maybe the sellers/manufacturers should change the description to Water Resistant? The boots are very comfy and the sizing for me is just about right, feet feel fresh after 10 miles so no complaints there, but I would expect them to be more robust waterproof wise than 4 weeks (well, 2 weeks to be honest)Still, for under 30 quid I didn't expect to much from them!Would I recommend them? for dry weather, yes, for wet weather, no!The boots look really good, and appeared to be a good fit when I first tried them on. However, when you start walking, the left boot fits nicely and is pretty comfy, but the right boot is anything but comfy! When you walk, the boots crease over your toes, which is nothing new - all footwear does that. The left boot is fine. The exception here is that when the right boot creases as you walk, it's like a friggin knife being pressed into the tops of your toes! Even when I battered the crap out of the right boot with a hammer to soften the creases, it still digs in like a bloody knife. Consequently, you can't walk very far before you're in agony. Also, the soles are completely useless when walking on anything wet or icy - wet roots or rocks, wet manhole covers, icy pavement. The soles offer absolutely no grip.I really needed some boots to walk across heathlands; these seemed a good option at a great price - and to be fair they have been.My only issue was on a longer 15 mile hike when I realised near to the end that I really needed a boot that allows the feet to the breathe; my socks had become wringing wet which in turn caused blisters. I guess when you're walking those soft of distances then a more professional walking/hiking boot is called for.
