This boot is a bit snugger than expected when it comes to slipping them on. I definitely need a shoe horn. Other than that, they feel very comfortable - almost like I'm wearing bedroom slippers. I like these better than Nike Goadomes!I've been wearing Scarpa shoes for some time now when I discovered that they fit me perfectly out of the box, require no break-in, and stand up well to Chicago's abusive winters. I had to wait for the Moraine for a few months until my size showed up again, but it was well worth it. 10/10 will def buy again. These are my standard shoes. I am on the second pair now. Love the combination of support and cushion. Much better than sneakers or sandals for walking around town as well as for hiking. The only drawback is a few times walking in muddy surfaces or in heavy rain, the rain permeates the shoe. It took a few days to dry. The inserts I used got soaking wet.I've really gotten into short hikes locally in the PNW. However with fall and winter closing in, I needed something more than trail runners and low-rise hiking shoes. Scarpa is a brand I wasn't familiar with, but the design looked good and it was waterproof. Amazon's free returns guarantee sealed the deal for me so I bit in and gave it a shot.Upon arrival I was immediately able to put the boots to the test on a slightly damp quick-trail. 4 miles round trip, 1400 ft elevation. Steeper slopes, tricky footing. No issues at all going up or coming down. The boots are a sliver narrow for my feet, but I felt no discomfort aside from the regular stiffness of a brand new pair of boots, and still felt fresh after the descent.Even for regular day-wear, these boots don't stand out as anything too noticeable, though they do squeak a lot when walking on smooth surfaces while wet. I'm sure that will fade away in time as well. I also sat outside of an REI for 3 hours waiting for the store to open for an event. Coupling these boots with Darn Tough wool socks, my feet stayed snug and dry without any effort on my part.Great pair of boots!First off and Most/Least important depending on the individual - these hikers look really good in an unpretentious way. They are extremely comfortable from the moment you put them on. Though I would say a couple of days breaking them in does help before taking them out on a true test. They don't really feel like boots, as they have a light agile feel to where your could feel comfortable running in them briefly (Not take the place of Running shoes - merely if a faster pace than walking was desired you would have no problem picking them up and putting them down.) The toe room is a bit wide, which is ideal for me - but may not be for others. The lacing system is very slick. The Gore-Tex inner seems to work fine... haven't tested this to great levels yet. And for those that care the shoe is made almost entirely of recycled materials.Overall a great hiker for those looking for ankle support, comfort, and agility.I've had this for close to a year and they've done the job. They are kind of an in-between softer sole shoe/boot. I believe I have the older version of these - based on the photos - so perhaps some improvements have been made on the newer model. I wanted something more sturdy and water-proof than low-top hikers, but a bit less involved than a full on hiking boot. By coincidence, I ran a few miles in them as well and had no issues. My only concern, is that they could be a little bit closer to a boot feel than a tennis shoe feel. The soles are a bit flimsy and the exterior is a lot of mesh (granted fully waterproof with goretex, no issues there in the first season) The newer looking one's seem to have improved on these areas - that might warrant a better rating. These newer one's appear to have more nubuck and a sturdier full vibrate sole. If Scarpa did trade-in's I'd upgrade, but these do the trick for now. This is my fourth pair of Scarpa boots, the other 3 having been shoe height. All of them have been true to size and very comfortable, and the Vibram soles wear like iron and provide good traction. I bought these mostly for off road hiking in a wet climate, and was looking for a little more protection. So far, so good. The arch support does not seem as high as the others, however, so I'm not sure they would be comfortable if I were carrying a lot of weight. Does not seem to be as high as the shorter Moraine GTX Alpine I bought at the same time.I really like how the shoe looks, but I can't figure out if they are too hot or if my feet are getting cold because of the top mesh. I have not actually hiked in them, so this may change completely, but wearing them casually at the office my feet felt cold, but seemed a little damp when I took my socks off. Therefore, I am somewhat confused as to what is going on. I am looking forward to doing a little hiking in them and see how they feel.
