I bought these as a replacement for my old motorcycle boots. After 4,000+ miles of riding in all conditions, I can say that they serve that purpose well. They offered sufficient protection when I dumped my bike while doing something stupid, they're holding up very well, they're breathable enough in hot weather to stay comfortable, and they work fine with the shift pedal. The only negative I can say is that when I was caught in a heavy rain, while the boot material may be waterproof, water had no trouble finds its way in at the top opening, and they got thoroughly soaked on the inside. Bottom line: if you need motorcycle boots and/or hiking boots, these are a great choice, especially for the money.
