I live in Portland, Oregon and there's a big Keen retail store in my neighborhood. I tried on some shoes in the store and I really liked them, but I couldn't justify paying the high price. I was happy to see this shoe priced much lower, although I can see that it's an older version that doesn't have the same cushy insole. The shoe is still very comfortable and fits well. I usually wear a size 9 regular width in mens shoes like Vans and Adidas. I ordered the size 8.5 since boots usually seem to run big. I was able to lace these shoes just right, and I can slip them on and off without untying them, and they provide the right fit for hiking and trail running. I don't get any blisters and I don't feel any soreness, even after running 3 miles downhill. The shoe is very rugged and waterproof, and I don't feel any hesitation on the local trails. They are lightweight enough that I can jog on the street in them, although I have to admit that they are much heavier than running shoes and it is noticeable. But if you want to run and hike on the trails (I like to do intervals), these are really perfect. It definitely feels more like a boot than a shoe, and it performs like one on the trails, but it's comfortable like a shoe, and a bit lighter than a full boot. I am looking forward to many many miles with these.
